UISD Cherish Center to hold annual fashion show
LAREDO, Tx. (KGNS) – Laredo students will model the latest fashion trends in celebration of World Down Syndrome Day.
UISD’s Special Education Department will hold its second annual fashion show at the Cherish Center located at Elias Herrera Middle School.
Over 40 students will take center stage at the school’s cafetorium wearing some of the best business attire provided by local retailers.
Joseph Lopez the director of the Cherish Center says this event teaches the students the proper etiquette in the workplace.
“The importance again is for students to recognize as they’re honing their working skills and job skills and building their resumes to get hired here in our community that it’s very important to dress for success and look your best every single day in your job that you’re performing,” said Lopez.
Lopez adds that for the past 13 years, the cherish center has been helping special needs students with life after graduation by preparing them to work at specific jobs within the community.
The fashion show will take place on Thursday, March. 21 at 9 am at the Elias Herrera Middle School Cafeteria.
